Brufut FC Canarias Academy Launched, Receives Boost

Brufut FC
Canarias Academy is the latest football academy established
with the sole objective of grooming young talent from Brufut
and surrounding areas.
The Brufut
FC Canarias Academy was launched on Wednesday with high
profile guests from Spain and the locality at the Brufut
Primary School.
The launch
also witnessed the presentation of football materials by Mr.
Habier Blanco, a Spanish national, which includes, 5 sets of
jerseys, 25 track suits, 10 pairs of football boots, 100
training helmets, 100 training T. shirts, 4 sets of referee
jerseys, caps and 2 sets of children’s jerseys.
Speaking at
the occasion, Mr. Blance, the donor, said the materials are
part of his contribution towards the development of
grassroots football in the country.
“I believed
that the academy will greatly support, improve and develop
football in Brufut and it environs,” he added.
Alhagie
Yunus Sanno Alkalo of Brufut, who spoke earlier, called for
unity and understanding among the youths of Brufut and urged
the Brufut FC Canarias Academy to make good use of the
items.
Receiving
the items, the Chairman, Western Region Divisional Sports
Committee, Lamin King Colley expressed appreciation to the
donor for the gesture. He said the materials will help the
academy in the promotion and development of grassroots
football in Brufut.
Another
speaker Badou Jasseh, Chairman of The Gambia Referee’s
Association, commended Mr. Blanco for his tremendous gesture
and called on other donors to emulate him.
Later, an
exhibition match was held between Rangers Football Club and
a Brufut Selection to entertain the guests.
Mr. Habier
Blanco arrived in
Banjul
with four other guests to witness the presentation and
launch of the Brufut FC Canarias Academy.
