African Women's Charity Organization
Conference!
Monday
15th December
2006
The African Women Charity Organization is proud to announce that we
are organizing an African Women and Youth Conference in
Dakar, Senegal in West Africa on March 10-11, 2007. This
is going to be our first conference organized in
Africa and because of this we consider this our most
important conference. This will be the 12th
conference that we have organized since 2000. We are so
excited about it because it is from the work from all of you
who have participated which makes it possible to organize
this conference on the ground in Africa. We view this as a
huge success. We congratulate and thank you and we look
forward to your continued support for this conference also.
The theme of this conference is The Importance of
Self-Reliance.
As with all of our previous conferences, this conference too, is
free of charge so that the actual cost of the conference
won’t be the reason for anyone not attending. We do not make
any money off of the conferences, therefore we cannot
sponsor or pay for anyone’s travel or accommodations. We
suggest that you get your organization to sponsor you.
We are expecting participants from organizations from all areas of
the world. For information about travel you can contact:
www.excursions4u.com
209-304-6375
The hotel have that we will be using for the conference is just 2
kilometers (ten minutes of travel) from the place of the
conference. It is called Hacienda Hotel and it will cost $56
for a single bed a night. It will cost $65 for 2beds for a
night. The website for the hotel is
www.hotel-hacienda.net .The phone number is (221)
8324103; the fax number is (221) 8321133. We know that there
is no visa required for people coming from the
United States and we will be checking to see if it is the
same for other countries. There is no application to fill
out and registration is at the door, therefore for those who
are definitely coming from outside of Senegal then let us
know and we will make sure that you get in.
The panel topics are: The relationship between organization and
self-reliance, Education and self-reliance; The importance
of the unification of
Africa to self-reliance; How to build a Women’s
Movement and the importance of Women’s leadership;
Solidarity with Women and Youth of the World.
As we stated, the theme of this conference is The Importance of
Self-Reliance. We are well aware that there are some of
our people who would like to stay dependent because of what
they think that they can get personally out of being
dependent, but we believe that the only way that we can
truly stop the suffering of our people is through
self-reliance. More on this topic is included on the back
side of our conference flyers as well as our paper titled
Self-Sufficiency and Building Collectives. There
are some organizations in
Africa who truly deserve to have a representative
attend this conference but cannot afford it. We need
sponsors for these people. Should you be able to sponsor
some one please contact us as soon as possible so that we
can connect. In most cases just the travel fare is needed.
And travel throughout
Africa is less expensive respectively. We also suggest
that everyone wear white to the conference as a show of
unity and that those who can afford it, please bring
school and medical supplies to donate to the local
population. Thanks for your support.
The Pennies for
Zimbabwe project in still in process.
Its very important that we continue to support this project
now more than ever because those who wish to see Africa
dependent do not want Zimbabwe to succeed because Zimbabwe
is an example for self-reliance in Africa through the
reacquisition of the land for the use of the people as
opposed to the former colonialists.
We thank all of you who have given to the Pennies for
Zimbabwe project. We need more volunteers who are willing
to collect pennies for this project. (You can give any
denomination of money and many people have. But pennies
allow all those who wish to give to be able to give. It also
allows us to go to the masses of the people and provide
education about the struggle in Africa. Another reason is
that we know that many people save pennies and other coins.)
Please contact us for your donation.
These donations go to Mbuye Nehanda School, which is also an
orphanage and farm run by ZANU PF Women’s League. In
October 2004 we were able to give the $2,120. In
August of 2006 we gave $300. We are still collecting and we
are looking forward to your contribution. More information
on the Pennies for
Zimbabwe project is available upon request.
The Need for Neighborhood Councils
The Africa Women’s Charity Organization has called for the building
of neighborhood councils as a means of self-reliance and
control of our communities. We often hear that there is a
lack of leadership among our people. We really disagree with
that analysis. We believe that there is a wealth of
leadership among the people that is not being recognized
because of the narrow view of leadership. We know that the
leadership role that women have played throughout our
history has not been acknowledged. As a result we have
greatly weakened ourselves organizationally. We know that in
every community there is leadership, and we are calling for
the recognition of that leadership in order to begin to
properly organize the masses. We are calling the people to
recognize the people who have had a history of playing a
leadership role in our neighborhoods and we are asking the
people to connect the African Women’s Charity Organization
to these people so we can share our visions of the world and
organize ourselves into an awesome movement that is
connected to
Africa. For us organization is the key and we know that what
we are asking here will help us tremendously is terms of
organization.
African Educators Committee
We are asking African educators all over the world to join the
African Women’s Charity Organization. We want you to be
organized in order to collectively work out an educational
curriculum from the cradle to the grave for the masses of
900 million Africans scattered in 125 countries. This is an
assignment that if accepted and carried out, people can
justify the blood that we shed so that you could be
educated. We have some guidelines and ideas that we know
will serve us. We will share that with you.
African Educator
Committee Objectives
-
To
develop an all-around curriculum for Africans world wide
from the cradle to the grave.
-
For
African Educators to have an organization in which the
sole purpose is to serve the people, the people, whose
struggle made it possible for us to, get an education.
-
To
develop an educational curriculum that will be vital to
building a strong infrastructure in Africa along with
being tightly organized and self-reliant outside of
Africa.
-
To make
a serious contribution towards building African Women
and Youth movements worldwide.
-
To
build the African Women’s Charity Organization
The purpose of proper education is to prepare the student to
be a responsible handler of power. Any other type of
education is a waste of time. - John Henrik Clarke
Membership
First we like to thank all of our old members because it is your
$20 yearly membership that has allowed us to maintain our
day-to-day activities. We are in the process of building
powerful African Women and Youth Movements that will connect
all African women and youth inside of
Africa and outside of Africa. This is a very important part
of the African independence movement. African Women and
Youth movements are necessary to educate, mobilize, and
organize the largest number of African women and youth as
possible. Our vision includes obtaining our own collective
schools, childcare, housing, kitchens, transportation, and
employment. We must build a strong infrastructure in Africa
and we must be tightly organized outside of
Africa.
Your $20 membership fee will take us one step closer to
building these awesome African Women and Youth Movements.
Please contribute. Your contributions to the African Women’s
Charity Organization allow us to do our work and are tax
deductible. We are looking forward to intensifying our
efforts toward unity, independence and self-sufficiency!
We are looking forward to having another conference in
Africa. We are determined to continue to have conferences in the
spirit of self-reliance. This means that we need people who
are willing to organize the conference with an organization
that has very little money because this is the way that we
have organized all of our other conferences and a way that
helps us be more self-reliant. This is what we need to build
strong Women and Youth Movements. We are asking for people
in
Africa
to volunteer who are willing to find us a place that will be
able to hold at least 200 people as a start.
Charity begins at home for African women and women of
African descent.
