Gambia’s Chess Federation president attend FIDE congress

Amadou Jallow, president of The Gambia Chess Federation is in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where he is attending the 90th FIDE congress and extraordinary general assembly.

Mr. Jallow left Banjul on Monday 24th February 2020 and he is expected back home on March 2nd 2020.

The congress and extraordinary general assembly will take place between February 26 – 29 at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi 5*Hotel.

On February 27 with witness FIDE Commission meetings (Constitutional, Ethics, Planning and Development and Verification); and Seminar on Chess Federation Management for Development Levels 3-5, facilitated by FIDE Planning and Development Commission.

February 28 will be FIDE Extraordinary General Assembly as well as Zonal and/or Continental Meetings. On February 29 will be the FIDE Executive Board.

The congress and extraordinary general assembly is expected to be attended by all national federation presidents who are due to also discuss FIDE funding for national federations.

Mr. Jallow is also expected to use the opportunity to lobby for funding for the development of Gambian Chess.

His travelling came at a time that The Gambia Chess Federation has launched its schools program.

This year is also an Olympiad year which is held every two years.
