EBBEH-GI Youth Development Association Launched
Wednesday 27th December 2006

By Bajen Camara

Youths of Serekunda East in the Kanifing Municipality have formed a charitable non-political organisation called Ebbeh-gi Youth Development Association.

The initiative is to foster understanding and togetherness among youths, as well as to improve their socio-economic status.

According to a statement from the association and issued to this paper this week, members of the association shall collectively work together to ensure that the environment is preserved and remains healthy for the present generation and those yet unborn.

The aims and objectives of the association include participating in voluntary services in areas such as the fight against HIV/AIDS, malaria, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse and bush fires, as well as to engage in ‘Operation clean the nation’.

Its aims also include raising funds through income generating activities; initiating projects in the municipality that could help bring development; fostering understanding and cooperation among its members and members of sister organisations in the municipality as well as fostering closer collaboration with the government and the NGO community.
